Lifestyle Practices That Can Help Ensure Your Health

The Elements of Healthy Practice

Components of healthy lifestyle practices can and do improve our chances for a sense of wellbeing. Simply put, elements of healthy lifestyle practices include but are not limited to the following:

  • Consumption of whole (unprocessed) foods, including increased fruits and vegetables

  • Adequate daily water intake

  • Decreased daily sugar intake

  • Consistent weekly inclusion of fish in the diet

  • Adequate sleep (adults approximately 8 hrs/night)

  • Keep regular sleep hours throughout the week/weekends

  • Consistent weekly movement/exercise

  • Healthy social contact- community involvement

  • Foster a healthy face to face friend group (does not have to be large)

  • Being in nature

  • Identify and participate in personal hobbies

  • Serve others

  • Learn new things

  • Limited to no use of alcohol

  • Be smoke-free

  • Explore how religion and/or spirituality might be beneficial

  • Build your own self-awareness

  • Build in quiet time for yourself/time to reflect

  • Think positively and explore how it feels to live in the moment (rather than the past/future)

  • Explore the benefits of a daily gratitude journal

  • Listen to and trust your inner guidance (intuition)

  • Find a positive mentor/role model

  • Regular visits with your physician and dentist as necessary

  • Spend less time on social media
